Measuring the degree of innovation is crucial for managing and developing innovation efforts. CoS can use KPIs such as the number of new projects, collaboration activities, commercially viable ideas, patent applications, and contributions to sustainability goals. It is also important to measure the innovation culture, for example through employee surveys on openness and participation. CoS should establish a systematic follow-up process where the KPIs are linked to the organization’s overall goals and reported regularly to management and the board. In the case of major changes, union involvement according to the MBL must be ensured. By measuring and following up the innovation efforts, CoS can identify strengths and areas for improvement, motivate employees, and demonstrate the value of innovation for the organization and society.
