In Swedish organizations, TOGAF, Zachman, and ArchiMate are the most widely used frameworks for Enterprise Architecture. TOGAF offers a methodology for developing, maintaining, and managing EA, and is often used as the foundation for structuring and documenting the architecture work. The Zachman framework is used to classify and map architectural artifacts and stakeholders, providing a clear overview of the organization’s information structure. ArchiMate, which has strong connections to Swedish academic environments (including KTH), is used to model complex systems and visualize the relationships between business processes, applications, and technology. These frameworks are applied both in the private and public sectors to support digitalization, ensure interoperability, and create a common understanding between IT and operations. For a Chief of Staff, this means being able to choose and adapt the framework based on the organization’s needs and ensuring that EA work is rooted in both strategy and the operational reality.
