The Chief of Staff must work proactively with risk management and ethics when AICOSAF is used. This means that CoS regularly conducts risk analyses to identify potential threats, such as AI hallucinations, bias, data leaks, or erroneous automated decisions. CoS should establish an AI governance committee where risks and ethical issues are discussed across functions, and where incident management and reporting procedures are established. It is important to introduce human-in-the-loop mechanisms for all high-impact decisions, so that AI recommendations are always reviewed by a human before being implemented. CoS is also responsible for educating the organization on AI ethics and ensuring that AICOSOS follows both internal policies and external regulations, such as the EU AI Act. By combining technical controls with ethical awareness, CoS can minimize risks and ensure that AI is used responsibly and sustainably.
