Business Capability Mapping is a method within EA where the organization’s capabilities (capabilities) are mapped and visualized in relation to strategic goals. For a Chief of Staff (CoS), this is a powerful tool for identifying strengths, weaknesses, and development needs within different business areas. By creating a capability map, management gets an overview of which capabilities are critical to achieving the organization’s goals and where there are gaps that need to be addressed. This supports fact-based and consensus-driven decision making, which is central to the Swedish leadership culture. Capability mapping is also used to prioritize investments, plan change initiatives, and communicate strategic priorities to the entire organization. For CoS, it means being able to drive a more structured and transparent strategic process, where all stakeholders have insight and the opportunity to influence.
