Category: Certification

Swedish labor law, including the MBL (Medbestämmandelagen), the Discrimination Act, and the Working Environment Act, does not require formal certification for the role of Chief of Staff. Employers may not discriminate based on education or certificates unless it is objectively justified for the position. Instead, the focus is on competence, experience, and the ability to work in accordance with Swedish labor standards and a culture of consensus. Certifications can be an advantage, but must not be used as an exclusionary requirement unless it is necessary for the job duties. This means that both certified and non-certified candidates have equal rights to compete for CoS roles, as long as they meet the other competency requirements.
