EA maturity models are used to assess how well the organization is working with Enterprise Architecture and to identify areas for improvement. For a Chief of Staff (CoS), this is an important tool for benchmarking against industry standards and demonstrating the value of EA work. Common models in Sweden are TOGAF and COBIT, which are often adapted to Swedish conditions with flat hierarchies and consensus-driven governance. Through regular maturity assessments, the CoS can identify strengths and weaknesses, prioritize development efforts, and monitor improvements over time. The results are also used to communicate the progress of EA work to management and stakeholders, strengthening its root and commitment. Maturity models contribute to creating a culture of continuous learning and development within EA.
